BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (WJTV) – Thursday marks the anniversary of the first legal medical cannabis sale in Mississippi.

In 2023, the Brookhaven Medical Cannabis Dispensary made its first legal medical marijuana sale in the state.

“When we started a year ago, we had maybe 1,500 patients in the whole state. I think now we’re just under 40,000, and it’s growing. You know, each month we see a lot of growth, new patients coming in on a regular basis. My motto here is the patients come first. First and foremost, we provide for our patients above all else,” said Mitch Parker, the owner.

Leanna Penn, who is the co-owner of the company, said she’s grateful for the company’s growth over the year.
