Press release
The Batavia Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. As such, we are taking a proactive approach to addressing the issue of illegal cannabis shops operating within our city.
In the upcoming weeks, our department will be conducting random sale sting operations to identify and shut down unlicensed cannabis retailers. These actions are necessary to protect our residents from the risks associated with illegal and unregulated cannabis products. Only licensed and regulated cannabis businesses are authorized to operate within our city. This is as a warning to those who are selling unlicensed cannabis products: you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Additionally, property owners who knowingly allow illegal cannabis sales to occur on their premises will also be held accountable.
We urge all members of the public to report any suspicious activity related to illegal cannabis shops to our department, you can do so by visiting our CRIMEWATCH page and clicking on the Submit a Tip link. Your tips can help us keep our community safe and ensure that only licensed and regulated cannabis businesses operate within our city.
