Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (CSE: TRUL) (OTCQX: TCNNF) posted fourth-quarter revenue of $301 million on Thursday, beating analyst average estimates of $292.44 million and capping a year of improved margins despite ongoing industry headwinds.
The Florida-based cannabis company’s fourth-quarter revenue represented a 5% increase year over year and exceeded even the high-end analyst estimate of $298.1 million, according to data from Yahoo Finance. The company reported full-year 2024 revenue of $1.186 billion, slightly above the average analyst estimate of $1.18 billion.
“The team set the bar for operational excellence, delivering industry leading margins and record cash flow,” CEO Kim Rivers said in a statement. “With our scaled operations, financial strength, and loyal customer base, Trulieve stands out as an industry leader with a differentiated strategy.”
The company boosted its gross margin to 62% in the fourth quarter, up from 54% in the same period of 2023.
For the full year, Trulieve generated $271 million in cash from operations and $150 million in free cash flow.
The company reported a net loss of $155 million for 2024, considerably better than the $527 million loss reported in 2023. The improved performance was partially offset by $117.5 million in legislative campaign contributions during 2024, up from $20.1 million spent in 2023.
Adjusted EBITDA for 2024 reached $420 million, representing 35% of revenue, up $98 million from 2023.
The company ended the year with $300 million in cash and short-term investments. During 2024, Trulieve added 33 dispensaries, bringing its retail locations to 225 nationwide
Just before the earnings release, Trulieve appointed Jason Pernell as company president. Pernell, who has been in the cannabis industry for over two decades, co-founded Trulieve alongside Rivers in 2015.
Trulieve currently operates 229 retail dispensaries and over four million square feet of cultivation and processing capacity across the United States, with strongest market share in Arizona, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
