Kudzu Cannabis, a Mississippi-based cannabis company co-founded by brothers Jay and Jared Kobs, is making significant strides in the state’s burgeoning cannabis industry. As of Monday, February 14, 2022, ongoing construction work is underway for their 35,000-square-foot cultivation, processing, and distribution center located in Canton, Mississippi. The project is set against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving market following the state’s recent legalization efforts.

Construction Progress and Community Engagement

On-site, the Kobs brothers, together with general contractor Jacob Sando, assessed the ongoing dirt work. Alton Folkes, the uncle of the cofounders, is overseeing this phase of construction. This center is poised to play a key role in Kudzu Cannabis’ operations, providing essential facilities for cultivation and distribution to cater to the increasing demand for regulated cannabis products.

Future Plans for a Jackson Dispensary

Kudzu Cannabis also has plans to open a dispensary in Jackson, located at 4678 I-55 North Frontage Road. Expectations are high for a fall opening, further expanding the company’s footprint in Mississippi’s cannabis retail sector. The strategic location offers easy access for customers, reflecting a trend towards convenient access points in urban areas.

Industry Context and Local Opportunities

The cannabis regulatory framework in Mississippi presents both challenges and opportunities for new businesses. With the state continuing to develop its medical cannabis program, companies like Kudzu Cannabis are positioned to benefit from the evolving marketplace. The Kobs brothers are committed to operating within compliance with state regulations while aiming to provide a valuable service to the community.

Ongoing Developments and Future Outlook

As the construction of the cultivation center progresses, both industry experts and local entrepreneurs are keeping a close watch on the developments. With Kudzu Cannabis planning to tap into the growing market, their operations might significantly impact Mississippi’s economy and job market. The cannabis sector is expected to create numerous jobs as companies expand their services to meet consumer demands.
